Fahad Mustafa is not happy with Ertugrul’s visit to Pakistan
Fahad Mustafa’s recent statement about Turkish actor Engin Altan aka Ertugrul spiked reaction on Social Media. In a recent interview Fahad Mustafa declared Engin Altan as an “outsider”.
According to him, Ertugrul came to Pakistan for money. He came, took a picture with lion, got money and went back from where he belongs. This is what you are for him, that’s it. We are for you people. We are here and will always be here for you people. Believe it or not, but this is the reality.
Referring to a co-star Humayun Saeed, the Jeeto Pakistan host said that no matter who comes and go, we will stay here. The first impression of the statement seems as to defend the patriotic spirit of Pakistani celebrities, but the singling out of a Turkish actor who is extremely well-received among the Pakistani audience shows his intent to be otherwise.
There’s a hint of annoyance in his whole body language while talking about the Turkish star. The hidden intent evoked response from a PTI senator Faisal Javed, who took the matter to his twitter account, and wrote in response to Mustafa’s statement:
Engin Altan is one of the finest actors we have seen on TV and Dirilis Ertugrul brought him a huge fame across the world. A lot to be learnt from such a great production and director's meticulous attention to detail. It is not a threat, it's an opportunity. https://t.co/NfjiOQoJPK
Pakistani celebrities have been supportive of Pakistani stars working in other industries, but they don’t seem to accept Turkish stars getting opportunities in their local industry. In the past, celebrities like Yasir Hussain also showed distaste against the Turkish stars working for Pakistan for which he got serious backlash from the Pakistani audience.
The situation is getting more controversial with politicians also stepping in the debates about the entertainment industry’s ins and outs’
